One of the most conservative industries in our country, devoted to their membership more than most can comprehend, the overriding wave to have “better” broadband is making this industry re-invent itself. Some states holding complicated laws in place on how a REC can conduct itself in the “broadband” space; others are wide-open – in either case, they all see the need to go this direction or be passed up and lose valuable revenues to competitors, both in the REC world and in the Communications space. Ultimately, the RECs getting into Broadband will help the US get the internet space where it needs to be, quicker.
